I am excited about my new series of stories called The Rhiannon Academy of Fairies, which is free on my author blog. I hope you will check them out. Fairy Tea for Valentine's Day

This cute little project over at Martha Stewart inspired me to write a little fairy tea poem for Valentine's Day!

Please feel free to use the poem for personal use but do not republish on any other website or use in any commerical way.

Little Fairy, Shimmering Light
Gather your magic through the night,
Flower nectar, sweet and cold,
Only as much as a teacup will hold

Hugs and Kisses, flavor it right,
Warmed by the fire, such a delight!
Fairy Tea in your cup,
Filled with love so drink it up!

Fairy Focus: Fairy Corner

I hope you enjoyed the fairy tidbits I found while wandering through books and fairy sites.

My next little focus is going to be on creating a fairy corner...and I have the perfect place for it...at the flea market I found a little white shelf unit that has a door on the front and four or five shelves inside. It's easy to leave the door open and display interesting objects and books inside. I haven't really "gotten it together" yet because with the holidays and such time was just not available. Currently it's setting empty in my bedroom.

As I passed it by the other day I thought...Fairies would love to reside inside this tall, narrow, old unit...and then as so often happens my mind jumped from one thing to another and I thought it would be the perfect place to display some of my fairy things...right now I just have a few items but I am always on the look out for cute little fairy trinkets and such. In addition on the bottom shelf I can stack my slowly growing collection of fairy books. It's a plus that the doors close because when little ones like my grandson come to visit I can just close up the little cabinet and protect the fairies and fairy things from little hands.

So I'm itching to create some little fairy displays and take some pics to share with you here at Fairy Dust and Fairy Kisses....

Fairy Tidbits

Faery is the world in which fairies reside. Often people say the word means "magic" because to us mortals.....faery seems magical and like a fantasy world. But to fairies it seems natural and orderly with everything happening for a reason. The reasons are just not ones that we typically encounter.

Fairies exist all over the world. In Spain fairies are called hada while in Ireland they are referred to as sidhe. In Greece they are heralded as Fata or Destinees. The Arabian Jinns can shift forms while the Asrai are water fairies that melt when sunlight touches them. Some, such as the Celtic Afanc are quite sinister. This fairy dwells at the bottom of deep lakes and is rumored to pull people into the depths of the lake. Beware of the Willow Fairy as it's vibrating light will lure you into the swamp grass and cause you to lose your way. Fire fairies as their name implies have the ability to create or destroy just as fire does. Rainbow Fairies paint the colors of the rainbow making sure that the ends do not touch the earth.

Fairies love to sip the nectar from flowers but also enjoy good meats, fine wines, and the best potatoes produced. Thus fairies love a feast but never over indulge. Mortals would serve well to carry a small amount of salt with them for if they chance upon a fairy they will be assured a good meal and good stories to tell upon their return. For mortals should not eat unsalted fairy food as it will take away their cares and lure them into pining for the fairy world upon their return to the mortal realm.

Fairy Focus: Fairy Tidbits

The Fairy Focus for this week is Fairy Tidbits...this week I will look for and collect fairy folklore, fairy quotes and little fairy tidbits to share with others through out the year. I received a fun little Irish Fairies book for Christmas so that will be a great starting place. I also need to get my fairy notebook back from a neighbor that borrowed it...that will be the perfect tool for organizing and storing the information I discover on my quest to understand the world of fairies.

Some things to look forward to in the coming weeks:
  • Fairy Corner: I am creating a little fairy corner and will take some pictures to share with you!
  • Fairy Gardens: Plans will start taking shape around the end of the month for my fairy gardens. I have them tucked here and there among the other larger flower beds...so we will start planning these focal points.
  • Fairy Finds: I will be sharing with you sites of interest or items that I find that are fairy related.

Please pop in often as we travel through 2009 with a fairy outlook!!
